Muscular contractions

Back, shoulder and calf contractures are very frequent, painful and disabling.(1)

  • This term, rather used in sports circles, defines a spontaneous, lasting and painful contraction of a skeletal muscle, occurring in the absence of any anatomical lesion (3).
  • A contracture can be permanent or transient (cramp). On palpation, the muscle is hard, painful (3).

Lombalgia, lower back pain

Commonly called “lumbago” or “back pain”, low back pain is a pain related to a benign muscle or ligament problem located at the bottom of the spine, in the lumbar vertebrae (1).

  • Low back pain is pain in the lower back. “Back pain” has many synonyms: low back pain, lumbago, crick… it is above all a mechanical problem where all back structures can be a source of pain (joints, ligaments, muscles, discs, etc.) (2).
  • 84% of people have had, have or will have low back pain in their lifetime (1)
  • Even if it is not serious, it represents many challenges: for patients, for healthcare professionals, for professionals in the business world and more broadly for society (1).
  • It is therefore essential to prevent the risk of a transition to chronicity (1).

  • Acute neck pain, pain in the neck caused by poor posture or a false movement, hinders head movements and radiates to the shoulders (4).
  • They can be due to different factors: anxiety, professional or sporting activities, bad positions, arthrosis (4).
  • The frequency of non-specific neck pain is estimated at 12 cases per 1,000 inhabitants per year. About two thirds of the French population are affected in their lives by a painful episode of the neck causing local stiffness.
  • It can easily be relieved but sometimes requires the prescription of an appropriate treatment.
